This "Light in Clay - Light Houses & Lanterns" workshop will take place at Werkstatt 22, part of the well-known Atelier 22 in Celle. The studio provides an inspiring and welcoming setting for a cozy and creative evening.

What to expect: A cosy, hands-on session to bring light and coziness into your home. Together we will craft an atmospheric ceramic light house or a lantern from clay. Whether you design a charming house or an elegant votive holder, we will bring the clay to life by carving and cutting windows, doors, and patterns. Unwind, create, and celebrate the warm glow of handmade art in a relaxed atmosphere.

Workshop phases:

• Welcome & Inspiration – introduction and first ideas for your light house or lantern

• Shaping – building your basic 3D form (e.g., a house, cylinder, or sphere)

• Decorating – carving out windows, doors, and patterns to let the light shine through

• Sharing – enjoying the creative atmosphere and presenting the works

  
  

What you will receive during the workshop:

• Welcome drinks and small snacks

• All tools and materials, including clay, underglaze paints, engobes, and instruments

• Friendly step-by-step guidance on shaping and decorating

What you will receive after the workshop:  

Your handmade ceramic pieces will be carefully dried, bisque-fired at approx. 1000 °C, glazed (transparent or coloured, as you prefer), and fired again at approx. 1050 °C. Finished works will be ready for pick-up about 2–3 weeks after the workshop.

Ticket price: €45.00 per person, or bring a friend and enjoy the workshop for €40.00 per person.  

Youth (10 years and above): €5.00 (only together with an adult ticket).  

Maximum number of participants: 10  

Note: This workshop is open to all ceramics enthusiasts. Adults can join with or without children. Youth participation (10 years and above) is welcome, but only together with an accompanying adult. Independent participation of minors is not possible. No prior experience is required - just bring your creativity and enjoy the process!

The workshop requires a minimum of 5 participants. If this number is not reached, or in case of illness, the event may be cancelled. In such cases, tickets will be fully refunded. Cancellations by participants up to 7 days before the event will be fully refunded; later cancellations are non-refundable unless a replacement participant is found.

Language: The workshop will be conducted mostly in German (B2 level), with a sprinkle of English here and there. Let’s learn and create together - language is no barrier to creativity!

Workshop Details: Celebrate coziness and creativity by crafting unique ceramic pieces! In this "Light in Clay" workshop, participants will build and carve their own light houses or lanterns, guided by professional techniques demonstrated by Veselina Kupenova, the artist behind Veseto Ceramics. We will use various tools to cut and carve patterns, and can add details with underglaze paints and engobes – natural ceramic-coloured mixtures that are entirely non-toxic, lead-free, and safe for use, ensuring both vibrant results and an eco-friendly artistic experience.

This workshop is perfect for couples, friends, or anyone who wants to enjoy a cozy, creative evening working with their hands. You’ll have the chance to design and make a personal ceramic piece that casts a warm, dancing light and reflects your own style.
