To mark May 24 - the Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet and Culture - and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Bulgar(i)en in Hannover e.V., I created a special series of handmade ceramic magnets.
Each magnet features one of the first three letters of the Cyrillic alphabet – А, Б, or В – glazed in the colours of the Bulgarian flag: white, green, and red. These letters are more than just characters – they are carriers of identity, heritage, and cultural memory.
 
The process began with a hand-carved linocut, used to imprint the reversed image into natural clay. After the first kiln firing, each piece was carefully glazed and fired again, allowing the vivid colours to come to life.
 
This project is especially close to my heart. As an artist and a Bulgarian living abroad, it was a joy to shape this tribute with my own hands, blending tradition, colour, and craftsmanship into something small yet meaningful.
