Personalised Clay Class Gift – Light and Gratitude for a Beloved Teacher

This piece is especially close to my heart. I created it as a gift for my son’s class teacher - a truly wonderful person who, with great patience and love, gently guided the children through their very first steps in school.

The candle holder is handmade from white clay and measures about 30 cm in diameter. Around the edge, I shaped small white ceramic flowers - each about 4 cm wide - and carefully inscribed the name of every single child in the class. I wanted all the children to be part of this circle. The centre is glazed using a flowing watercolour technique that allowed soft, dreamy colours to blend into each other, reminding me of the sky at dawn. For me, this piece is a quiet tribute to the light of knowledge, passed on through the hearts of our children by the hands and hearts of their first teachers.
